Skull Base & Orbital Surgery Section

The Skull Base & Orbital Surgery Section (SBOS) is a Section within the ARS that represents a grassroots effort to provide networking, education and leadership mentoring for rhinologists interested in extended approaches to the skull base and orbits. Towards that goal, events will feature guest speakers on topics such as career, leadership, and strategic planning while providing networking opportunities.

PURPOSE STATEMENT

The Skull Base and Orbital Surgery (SBOS) Section of the American Rhinologic Society seeks to bring together those individuals interested in advancing the care of patients with skull base and complex orbital pathology. Through collaboration, the Section endeavors to be a force within the Society to provide:

  • meeting content/educational efforts,
  • multi-institutional research efforts especially those involving rare pathology
  • best evidence-based practices and/or expert consensus,
  • best coding practices
  • NeuroRhinology fellowship training expectations as it pertains to skull base and complex orbital surgery.

The SBOS section serves as a platform for more junior members of the Society to impact and enhance the Society through the aforementioned efforts given the unique nature of skull base and complex orbital surgery. This platform provides Section members to opportunities to participate in Section leadership roles, thereby, enhancing the Society membership experience.
