2020 ARS 66th Annual Meeting
September 10th & 12th, 2020
The ARS will host its first virtual Annual Meeting this year. The informative and exciting 66th Annual Meeting will kick off on Thursday night (September 10th 2020); we will give everyone Friday night off to spend with their family, and we will continue with another virtual session all-day Saturday (Saturday 12th 2020). The virtual program will allow us to safely and conveniently attend the Annual Meeting, as well as not impact our clinical practices since you will be able to attend the meeting from the comfort of your home. With the cancellation of the COSM ARS scientific meeting, we have been given the unique opportunity to combine the scientific presentations from COSM into the Annual Meeting. Another first! Therefore the 66th Annual meeting will be the largest ARS scientific meeting in its history. The virtual meeting will be a combination of live panel discussions and prerecorded scientific presentations, which will highlight the top 10 COSM scientific abstracts and the top 10 Annual Meeting scientific abstracts. I have seen these abstracts and know that these presentations will be exceptional. The Annual Meeting will continue to host the annual David Kennedy Lectureship. Our 16th Kennedy Lecturer, Dr. Peter Hwang, will present "Moving Forward: Rhinology in the post-COVID Era". This lecture will be extremely timely and pertinent. The live panels will be varied and engaging. They will cover diverse concepts ranging from updates in coding, multidisciplinary approaches to the management of nasal polyps including the use of biologics, and the impact of COVID-19. We are also planning a very interesting, and perhaps even controversial, panel reviewing the evidence-based approach to the management of allergic rhinitis. One of the panels, sponsored by Women in Rhinology, will discuss “Work-life balance during the COVID-19 Era”. There is no doubt that there is a large amount of material and definitely something for everyone in this year’s Annual Meeting. As an added bonus, ARS Annual Meeting registrants will have the opportunity to view all of the content presented during the subspecialty “Rhinology/Allergy Week” from September 21-27, which is part of this year’s Annual Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery virtual meeting format which will span over six weeks. The ARS will be presenting some of the content during that week, and the Academy has agreed to allow all ARS registrants to view all of their Rhinology/Allergy content. The program committee has worked relentlessly to create an excellent program for our members on an enhanced virtual platform. Your participation and support for our Annual Meeting is essential. Your contributions to ARS have allowed us to create a wonderful scientific and rigorous scientific community.
