DEPARTMENTAL MISSION STATEMENT

We are committed to delivering cutting edge clinical care of the highest quality for all conditions of the ear, nose, throat and head and neck cancer; to training the future leaders of Otolaryngology; and to generating research insights that will lead to new treatments for future generations of patients.

OVERVIEW OF FELLOWSHIP

The Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at University of Colorado is offering a one-year rhinology fellowship under the mentorship of Drs. Todd Kingdom, Anne Getz, and Ashoke Khanwalkar. One clinical fellow will be accepted annually.

Comprehensive neurorhinology & advanced rhinology training will cover the clinical and operative treatment of sinonasal inflammatory and neoplastic disease, anterior skull base and orbital surgery. Sites of practice will include the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Center and National Jewish Health—a top-ranked internationally renowned institution specializing in respiratory care. Opportunities for multidisciplinary collaboration in basic, translational and clinical research will be supported and encouraged. Fellows will have a direct role in resident education during regular didactic conferences, labs, in clinic and in the operating room. Fellows will have access to state-of-the-art cadaveric lab facilities. At the conclusion of the fellowship, trainees will be prepared for a career in academic neurorhinology & advanced rhinology / skull base surgery.

On average, fellows will spend 2 days in clinic, 2 days in the OR, and have one day dedicated to research and administrative time.

Diversity of Cases:

Under the mentorship of three full-time, dedicated rhinologists with busy academic practices, fellows will experience and participate in the breadth and depth of sinus, orbit and skull base surgery including primary and revision endoscopic sinonasal surgery, extended sinus surgery and tumor treatment, surgical epistaxis management, endonasal orbital surgery, endonasal endoscopic approaches to the anterior skull base. We have established tremendous collaborative relationships with our colleagues in neurosurgery, oculoplastic surgery, pulmonary medicine, and allergy and immunology.
