FELLOWSHIP DESCRIPTION

The UT Southwestern Rhinology fellowship is a one year intensive educational experience for individuals who have completed an Otolaryngology residency and wish to pursue advanced training in the medical and surgical management of sinonasal disease. The curriculum is designed to encompass the breadth of the field of rhinology, spanning from the medical managment of allergy and inflammatory disease to endoscopic surgery for intracranial anterior skull base lesions.

The Rhinology fellow works in conjunction with Dr. Ashleigh Halderman, Dr. Bradley Marple, and Dr. Matthew Ryan. Collaborations with neurosurgery, oculoplastic surgery, allergy/immunology, and pediatric otolaryngology round out the educational experience. Particular emphasis is given to endoscopic skull base surgery and the management of anterior skull base malignancy. The fellow will participate in the activities of the UT Southwestern Multidiscplinary Skull Base Program, which is co-directed by Dr. Ashleigh Halderman. The department has an active allergy program and the fellow will become proficient in the management of allergic disease and eligible for AAOA Fellowship status by the end of the training year. Approximately 20% of the fellow's time will be devoted to research and scholarly activity.

This fellowship will prepare the candidate for a successful practice dedicated to the medical and surgical management of rhinology problems, but will also equip the fellow with tools and techniques for clinical research and scholarly productivity.
