James Stankiewicz, M.D.
The 2006 ARS Fall meeting in Toronto had just ended to acclaim by all who attended. The meeting featured more scientific papers and posters than any other previous meeting. The success of that meeting was not just due to the authors of papers and posters but also the ARS Program Committee chaired by the President elect. One hundred abstracts were reviewed and graded in order to develop the program. All of the individuals on the Program Committee are voluntary and are representative of the active committee structure that makes the ARS run. Take Dr. Todd Kingdom from Denver, Colorado for instance. Todd has headed the education committee for the last three years. All Todd and his committee have done is completely put together a Rhinology Fellowship Program that begins with applications and ends in a well received national match.
The committees of the ARS are vital, involved, and voluntary. Amongst the committees available are the Audit, Awards, By-Laws, CME, Corporate Liaison, Credentials, Education, Information Technology, Membership, Newsletter, Patient advocacy, Pediatric Rhinology, Program Committee, and Research Grants.
Positions will be available on all committees in the Fall of 2007. Committee member applications are solicited at this time.
If you have a genuine interest in the work of the ARS and would like to become a committee member, please contact Wendi Perez at wendi.perez@gmail.com . The ARS is only as dynamic and vital as its membership involvement. Please consider a committee appointment for 2007.
