A number of papers were submitted for the Research Award for the Spring Meeting. The ARS Award Committee, chaired by Allen Seiden, MD, reviewed each paper and announced the winner on May 14, 2005. The winner of the 2005 Research Award is:
- "Altered expression of genes associated with innate immunity in recalcitrant rhinosinusitis with polyps" by Andrew P. Lane, M.D.
An honorable mention goes to the other finalists for this award:

- "Regional analysis of sinonasal ciliary beat frequency in normal subjects" by Jeffrey Shaari, M.D., James N. Palmer, M.D., Alexander G. Chiu, M.D., Akiva S. Cohen, PhD, and Noam A. Cohen, M.D., PhD
- "Association of nasopharyngeal and laryngopharyngeal reflux with post-nasal drip symptomatology" by Sarah K. Wise, M.D., Justin C. Wise, M.S., and John M. DelGaudio, M.D.
- "Characterization of 'normal respiratory flora' in purulent sinus secretions; 'normal flora' is not necessarily 'normal'" by Frederick A. Kuhn, M.D., Marc G. Dubin, M.D., Ronnie E. Swain, M.D., and Christopher T. Melroy, M.D.
- "Endoscopic transphenoidal pituitary surgery with real time intraoperative MRI" by Vijay K. Anand, M.D., Theodore H. Schwartz, M.D., David H. Hiltzik, M.D., and Ashutosh Kacker, M.D.
These papers, along with many others of similarly high quality, were presented at the ARS Spring meeting in Boca Raton. Congratulations to all of the authors for their excellent work.
