David Kennedy, MD
We invite you to come to Philadelphia in April 15-18, 2009, as the ARS will have the pleasure of co-sponsoring a major international meeting taking place in Philadelphia.
Rhinology World 2009 is comprised of the IRS (International Rhinologic Society), the ISIAN (International Symposium on Infection and Allergy of the Nose), the ARS (American Rhinologic Society) and the AAOA (American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy). The spring meeting of the American Rhinologic Society will not participate in COSM in 2009 and instead will co-host Rhinology World. A four day meeting has been scheduled, commencing with a Wednesday evening opening ceremony and proceeding through four days of, plenary sessions, round table discussion, mini seminars, instructional courses and exciting exhibits. Live demonstration dissections are planned from the leading international surgeons, as well as the opportunity for participants to perform cadaver dissections with the experts. The AAOA has informed us that they will also hold their basic allergy course in conjunction with the meeting. We also have plans for an interactive resident rhinology knowledge bowl-type competition that will attract residents throughout the country. ARS members associated with residency training programs or rhinology fellowships should let their program directors know about this exciting competition, and may wish start to consider developing their teams. Significant prizes are planned for both team participants and for the winning training program.
Please see our website @ www.rhinologyworld.com for the beginnings of our meeting and highlights of Philadelphia and the surrounding areas. We do plan a companion social program to highlight the historical and cultural possibilities in the City of Philadelphia and also pre- and post- Congress tours to New York City and Washington, DC., especially for our international visitors.
A nationally and international renowned panel is currently being assembled and putting together our program. We expect it to highlight new advances in rhinosinusitis and management as well as treatments of inflammation, allergic rhinitis, endoscopic skull base surgery and nasal and reconstructive surgery.
We look forward to hosting you in Philadelphia for this exciting meeting in April 2009.
