overview of fellowship
The aims of this fellowship are to provide the highest level of post-residency training in the diagnosis, research, and management of conditions affecting the nose, sinuses and surrounding structures, with an emphasis on comprehensive management of inflammatory sino-nasal conditions and revision sinus surgery. Graduates of this fellowship will become teachers and leaders in the field of rhinology.

fellowship description
Clinical Rotations: One year clinical, surgical and research position at a private institute in Northern California which receives a high volume of tertiary referrals from the entire Western USA. Fellows will receive training in the comprehensive medical and surgical management of rhinologic disorders.

Weekly Schedule: Duties involve 80% clinical and 20% research components. The fellow also has his/her private clinic, one day per week. In the operating room, the level of supervision is graduated. All office exam rooms are equipped with state of the art endoscopic equipment.

Research Responsibilities: One entire day is fully protected for research and is funded up to $5,000 / year. There are several active studies. Fellows are encouraged and funded to develop new studies. A research nurse is on staff. Travel to the annual ENT Academy meeting is covered.

Diversity of Cases: Surgical training will include advanced endoscopic techniques, including revision sinus surgery, frontal sinus surgery, extended frontal sinus surgery, orbital surgery, and management of benign and malignant nasal/sinus tumors. Surgical cases are performed at Stanford University Hospital, and multiple ASC’s throughout the Bay Area. Volume is approximately 200+ cases per year: 75% revision.

Call Schedule: Call is only for the sinus practice.

Additional Information: Resources include a full-time nurse practitioner, an in-office CT scanner, and sinus-only IGS systems at all surgery sites. Fellows participate in courses and visiting mini-fellowships.

Housing and transportation are not provided. Salary: $60,000 plus benefits.

Applicants must:
  1. be enrolled in or have completed an approved North American OHNS residency,
  2. be BE/BC
  3. obtain a California medical license
  4. review ARS fellowship directory and become a member
  5. apply through the ARS - SF match system- submitted through
  6. be available for possible on-site interviews in the spring months of match cycle
